Few settings are quite as romantic as the beach – the soothing sound of crashing waves, the soft feel of sand under your feet and the beauty of the ocean’s blue waters all contribute to an amorous atmosphere. Few beach destinations can boast the wide range of activities and accommodations found along the Grand Strand, so it’s clear why the Myrtle Beach area stands out among potential Valentine’s Day destinations.
Well, this Valentine’s Day, the romantic ocean theme can be taken to new heights (or depths, to be exact) in Myrtle Beach. At the Ripley’s Splash of Love event at Ripley’s Aquarium on February 14, you can treat your special someone to a truly unique Valentine’s Day experience that includes exploring an array of underwater life and enjoying a romantic dinner under the sea.
The Splash of Love event’s $89.99-per-couple ticket price includes admission to the Broadway at the Beach aquarium, a four-course dinner alongside one of its amazing aquatic tanks, a long-stem rose and a ticket for one drink each at the bar. For an additional $20, couples can upgrade to tunnel seating under the Dangerous Lagoon Shark Tank, where a strolling musician will further set the romantic mood, plus have a bonus sweet treat added to their dinner package.
The evening’s full itinerary includes:
Bar offerings and hors d’oeuvres from 7 to 7:45 p.m., when couples can explore the aquarium’s attractions at their leisure. The hors d’oeuvres are set to include a seasoned shrimp shooter; assorted cheeses, nuts and dried fruits; caprese skewers drizzled with a balsamic reduction; and goat cheese, cranberry and orange crostini.
Dinner from 7:45 to 9 p.m. The menu will feature artesian rolls; a mixed green salad with strawberries, cranberries, cucumbers and goat cheese, all topped with a strawberry vinaigrette dressing; an entrée of herbed chicken breast topped with a tomato shrimp scampi sauce and accompanied by Italian roasted fingerling potatoes and French green beans; and a dessert of sliced red velvet cheesecake with strawberry sauce and berries.
More time to enjoy the aquarium’s exhibits from 9 to 10 p.m.
